The Cavaliers swept a pair of matches in Philadelphia this weekend when Virginia did not lose a single point en route to a pair of 7-0 drubbings over the University of Pennsylvania and St. Joseph's University.
Freshman Doug Stewart, ranked No. 107 in the country, again played in the top slot for Virginia, winning both of his matches in the day. Senior Michael Duquette and freshmen Ryan Rizza, Darrin Cohen and Stephen Rozek also took away two victories Saturday.
Sophomores Stephen Nolen and Dillon Walker each contributed one singles win, and each also teamed up with Rizza for a doubles point. The top doubles team of Duquette and Stewart won both their doubles matches.
"We played very solid in both matches," Virginia assistant coach Tony Bresky said. "It allowed us to keep the momentum we have going and hopefully prepared us for next weekend."
The Cavaliers return to action this Friday, Feb. 14, at the Boar's Head Sports Club against the No. 11 Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The following weekend Virginia hosts a doubleheader against Liberty and Georgetown.
Conference play does not begin until March 15.
