Two club swimmers compete at North Carolina

Kate Walters and Emily Lodge represented Virginia's club swim team Saturday at the University of North Carolina's Spring Invitational. The meet, held at Carolina's Koury Nadatorium, featured athletes from 10 schools, including UNC, Duke, Maryland and Wake Forest. The Cavaliers competed in three events each, with Walters swimming the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard individual medley, and 100-yard freestyle while Lodge swam the 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly and 50-yard backstroke.

But much of their work goes into planning summer orientation sessions. Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
