During its fall debut, the Virginia men's tennis team saw several of its members collect personal victories at the U.Va. Ranked+1 Invitational in Charlottesville this past weekend. The three-day event featured 48 athletes from 11 different programs, including 14 nationally ranked players.

Fall Invitational at the Snyder Tennis Center. Two Cavaliers secured the top two singles competitions, while a Virginia duo claimed the doubles title at the event.

Virginia women's basketball freshman forward Sarah Imovbioh has been deemed ineligible to practice or play for the Cavaliers for the upcoming 2011-12 campaign by the NCAA. Imovbioh violated an NCAA rule which states that an athlete must finish high school within a four-year time frame, according to a press release. The 6-foot-2 Nigeria native failed to adhere to that regulation.

A bowl game - it's in the forefront of collegiate players' minds all across the nation. And while many gridiron warriors mask their desires for a coveted postseason appearance with a one-game-at-a-time attitude, wide receiver Kris Burd and the rest of the seniors on the Virginia football team are not shying away from the fact that they are already freeing up their schedule during the months of December and January.

Freshman linebacker Daquan Romero made long, easy strides across the field after the Virginia football team's practice Monday afternoon. After grabbing a bottle of water, he joked with junior linebacker LaRoy Reynolds - Romero's competition at the weakside linebacker position this fall - before allowing one of his other teammates to take a sip of his post-practice beverage. Romero seemed at ease, comfortable in his relatively new environment.

Virginia men's tennis player Jarmere Jenkins defeated three world-ranked competitors en route to earning the singles title at the Purnell-Thomas Memorial Tennis Tournament Sunday afternoon in Salisbury, Md. Jenkins became the first amateur to win the charity event - which showcases 64 of the world's top professional and amateur athletes - since 1986.

The No. 5 Virginia rowing team swept all four ACC Championship races for the second consecutive season to successfully defend its conference title. The Cavaliers, who have snagged 11 of the last 12 crowns, finished the regatta with a total of 60 points - 11 points more than runner-up No. 14 Clemson.

Redshirt senior Stephanie Garcia posted the Virginia track and field program's all-time fastest finish with a 9:56.96 mark in the 3000 meter steeplechase event at the George Mason Spring Invitational this weekend. The first-place finishing time not only bested former Cavalier Dawn Cleary's record of 9:59.30, but also marked the NCAA's top time for the event.
