Women's basketball travels to N.C. State

After an emotional 76-73 double-overtime win over Wake Forest on Sunday, the Virginia women's basketball team wants things to go easier against N.C. State tonight. The Cavaliers will be looking for their sixth straight win over the Wolfpack.

"I really think [the Wake Forest] game will bring us together a lot more," Virginia forward Schuye LaRue said.

In the first meeting between the two teams Jan. 2, Virginia (14-8, 5-4 ACC) never trailed and easily beat N.C. State, 77-64. With that win, the Cavs improved to 28-23 against the Wolfpack and remained the only ACC team with a winning record against N.C. State (12-8, 3-6).

LaRue was an indispensable force in the first meeting between the two teams, when she tallied her fourth consecutive double-double. She led all scorers with 25 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds. LaRue barely missed matching that total against the Deacons. She had nine boards and 16 points, despite missing the first half because she was late to the pre-game shoot-around.

Virginia sophomore forward Marcie Dickson was the hero of the Wake Forest game. She led the Cavaliers with 21 points, including two game-tying shots, first at the end of regulation and then at the end of the first overtime.

All University students are required to live on Grounds in their first year, but they have many on and off-Grounds housing options going into their second year.
