Scott Moore named ACC Wrestler of the Week

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

Graduate student Scott Moore was named ACC Wrestler of the Week for the third time this season, after finishing first in his weight class in the 2004 Virginia Intercollegiate State Wrestling Championship.

He helped Virginia to a second place finish by finishing 3-0, winning two matches by falls and one by major decision. His season record remains unblemished, standing at 30-0. He has won all six of the tournaments he has competed in this year.

Moore is ranked second in the nation in his weight class and is quickly becoming a standout in Virginia wrestling history. The 21 falls he has recorded midway through the season shattered the old Virginia single-season record of 11 and placed him fourth on Virginia's all-time list.

Moore garnered ACC Wrestler of the Week honors on two other occasions this season. The first came Nov. 24 after winning Cornell's Body Bar Invitational and the other Jan. 12 after he recorded two wins against Nebraska and Cleveland State.
